Native to Japan, the Heartleaf Hornbeam can be used for a privacy screen, a hedge, or in Bonsai culture. Good fall colour, large dark green leaves, rounded in habit, densely branched. Half as wide as it is tall with 3-5 inch cigar shaped seed pods.

How To Start These Seeds:
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours
Stratification: Warm stratify for 60 days, cold stratify for 90 days
Germination: Sow seed 1/8 inch deep , tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed
