The Hungarian Lilac has exceptionally deep violet blooms in early summer and an upright habit. Beautiful 8-inch flower clusters adorn the tree and have pleasant fragrance. Great as a specimen or when planted in masses.
When choosing a location, keep in mind that the Hungarian Lilac has a moderate to rapid growth rate. It grows up to 10 feet in height and 8 feet in spread. It can be planted in zones 5 to 7. Prefers open spaces where it will receive full sun and part shade and good air circulation. Moist, well-drained soil that is alkaline to neutral.

Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours
Stratification: Cold stratify for 30-90 days
Germination: Sow seed 1/4 inch deep, keep moist, mulch the seed bed, cover seedbed with some shade, can be sown outdoors in the fall for spring germination.
