The 'skyscraper of the palm world'. Big, native to the Baja and Sonora deserts and planted widely in California, Arizona, Florida and elsewhere. Also know as Washington Palms. Mexican Fan Palms need plenty of sun and will tolerate dry soils and drought. It is fairly salt-resistant and fast-growing. An excellent urban planting for larger areas.
How To Start These Seeds:
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours
Stratification: Cold stratify for 90 days
Germination: Sow seed 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch deep, keep moist, mulch the seed bed
