Can be a little tricky to grow from seed, but very rewarding. A beautiful small tree with great individuality and brilliant red fall foliage. Lovely rich reddish brown peeling bark stands out wonderfully in a winter landscape. A wonderful specimen tree.
Paperbark Maple likes full to partial sun and well-drained, humus-rich soil with a pH of 5-7. Needs lots of moisture.
How To Start These Seeds:
Scarification: Soak in hot tap water, let stand in water for 24 hours
Stratification: Warm stratify for 120 days, cold stratify for 120 days
Germination: Sow seed 3/8 inch deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed
